Shumayela is a choir for treble, changing and recently changed voices with the Korora Choir Association. The ensemble values quality music education in addition to providing an outstanding social experience. Singers are encouraged to explore and grow in a safe and supportive environment while pursing the highest ideals in musical performance.
In addition to regular season performances, the choir is often invited to perform throughout Alberta and has toured to Ottawa to perform in the Unisong festival on Parliament Hill for Canada Day, at the international Festival 500 in 2013, at Canada's national choral conference, Podium in May 2016, and often, at Light Up the Winspear, the Edmonton Symphony's annual fundraising company..
The choir rehearses on Tuesday nights from 7 to 9pm at St. Paul's Anglican Church and has an additional rehearsal once a month, usually on a Friday. Extra rehearsals prior to performances and retreats are also part of the choir's regular schedule. For more information, visit the Korora Choir Association website.
